All staff are trained and are aware of the Licensing legislation, especially in relation to the prevention of underage sales. They are required to sign a register confirming that they have undertaken training and are aware of their responsibilities.
Training is repeated at frequent intervals, at least bi-annually.
Any person found to be in breach of the Company alcohol policy is subject to disciplinary proceedings.
Notices are displayed in the premises advising of the Licensing legislation.
The operators of the premises will maintain a good relationship with the police and other relevant authorities.
All alcohol stands to be sighted within the eyesight are of the checkout tills and staff to help prevent and identify shoplifters.
Security staff to be employed during the evening, from 18.00 until closing times to deter alcohol theft and support shop staff if they choose to refuse a sale for whatever reason.
Ordinarily, a personal licence holder to be on premises at all times that alcohol is offered for sale.
A written log shall be kept of all refusals including refusals to sell alcohol. The Premises Licence Holder / DPS shall ensure that the refusals log is checked, signed and dated on a weekly basis by the Store Manager / DPS and the District Manager and produced on request to Police and / or a Trading Standards Officer.
Fire safety equipment is provided at the premises to comply with the relevant recognised standards, and staff are trained on the use of this equipment.
CCTV to be installed to cover the store and in particular the alcohol aisles, all doors entrances and exits, to further assist in the prevention of crime and identification of possible offenders.
A comprehensive digital CCTV system to be installed giving storage of images for a period of not less than 28 days.
Images can be provided on to removable media to authorised bodies ordinarily with 48 hours notice. In the event of a serious incident, management will endeavour to try and provide any required copy CCTV footage as soon as possible.
CCTV to be fully maintained and regularly serviced.
A DPS for the premises able to be within travelling time of the premises should they be required if an incident has happened and they are then required to attend (time limit 30 minutes).
Signs to be placed in prominent areas of the shop to ask patrons to leave the place with the minimum of noise for the late evenings.
The on duty manager to be called if anyone attempting to purchase alcohol appears to be under 18. The manager will only accept photographic ID as proof of age ( passport, photo driving licence or PASS card ). If no ID is provided, no sale takes place.
Staff to be fully trained and able to implement "Challenge 21" or a similar campaign to prevent sale to underage persons.
