Licence conditions (19)

A responsible person will always be on site (this could be the café manager, ship owners or a member of the Deben Bar committee).
All staff will receive training so that they are aware of the premises licence and the requirements to meet the four licensing objectives. Staff training records will be kept, and refresher training will be undertaken with staff on a regular basis. Staff training records will be made available upon request to officer of the local authority and or the Police.
The supply of alcohol outside the ship will cease at 9pm. Prevention of crime and disorder
CCTV will be installed and maintained in full working order. Prominent signage will be displayed throughout the premises informing people that there is CCTV in operation. All recordings will be maintained for at least 28 days and will be made available to an authorised officer of the licensing Authority or a police officer on demand.
Locks on significant doors to prevent access to alcohol. Public safety
There will be provision of adequate lighting to promote the safety of customers and staff.
The Licence holder shall ensure that all escape routes are kept clear.
Records will be kept of regular fire equipment maintenance. There will be a practiced fire evacuation procedure which will include regular testing.
The Licence holder shall ensure that health and hygiene standards are applied.
Railings around the ship to prevent falls; adequate provision of life rings as well as prominent notices warning of deep water.
Warning notices indicating the risks when boarding/disembarking as well as entering the ship will be prominently displayed. Prevention of public nuisance
Facilities for depositing litter and the collection of litter generated by customers purchasing food and drink must be available and maintained.
The licence holder shall display clear and legible notices requesting patrons to respect nearby residents and leave the premises quietly.
The Licence holder shall monitor noise levels at the premises and take appropriate action. Protection of children from harm
The licence holder shall implement the 'Challenge 25' scheme, ensuring prominent signage is displayed throughout the premises. The Licence Holder shall ensure that any person selling or supplying alcohol at the premises, asks for photographic proof of ID document where they have reason to suspect that the individual may be under 25 years of age.
Children will only be permitted on the ship when the café is open and only if accompanied by a responsible adult. The only exception to this will be children attending a pre booked function below decks in which case they will still be required to be with a responsible adult.
Adequate notices will inform all those entering the licensed areas below decks that children are not permitted, except at pre booked functions. This will be enforced by a responsible person.
The areas below decks which are licenced for the serving of alcohol may be used for multiple purposes but when alcohol is being served in these areas a strict over 18 years of age rule will be applied. Alcohol will be stored in such a way that a shutter shall be pulled down to hide and secure all alcohol from view should a group involving those under the age of 18 years use the multipurpose area below decks.
Deben Bar Members Club applies a strict over 18 years of age rule to the area it occupies below decks.
