Outside of performances, a Duty Manager undertakes tours of the premises to ensure that public areas are safe and maintained, attending to problems that arise.
Before the performance House Manager tours the premises, ensuring that all escape routes are clear.
During the performance the House Manager attends to any problems that arise, and manages emergency evacuations.
All members of staff are instructed regarding the action to be taken by them in the event of a fire or emergency.
During performances, ushers are located inside and outside of the auditorium and are trained to address any problems that arise.
Bars and catering staff are instructed and trained not to serve intoxicated people.
Static panic buttons are provided in key areas to enable staff to alert the police in case of serious problems.
Details of nominated key holders are forwarded to the police and the intruder alarm monitoring contractor.
Adequate public liability insurance is provided.
Lavatories, sanitary appliances and urinals are kept properly and efficiently cleansed, disinfected and supplied with proper toiletries.
Fire exits are clearly marked and routes kept clear.
All floors, floor coverings and upholstery in the premises are maintained in a clean condition.
The edges of the treads of steps and stairways are conspicuous.
