Promotion is restricted to ad hoc brochures, the parish magazine and posters advertising specific church events. As part of the actual licensing process adverts will be placed in the parish magazine and the Evening Gazette, and the Borough Councils blue notice will be displayed on the church notice board outside St Cedd's in accordance with the Borough Council's guidance notes, paras 6.3 and 6.4.,.
The building is locked when not in use, with security lighting and closed gates. Sale of alcohol is prohibited, but hirers may serve it with the express permission of the Church council. When wine is served at church functions, perhaps 2-3 times a year, at least one church warden or the incumbent will always be present. In fifty years we have never, to our knowledge, had a problem.,.
An annual health and safety audit carried out for the church council indentifies any action which may be required to meet the very strict criteria applied by the church's insurers (Ecclesiastical Insurance Group). St Cedd's has recently undergone extensive refurbishment and has been checked and approved by CBC's Health and Safety inspector and by the fire department. The situation is reviewed monthly by a management committee.,.
Hire applications are carefully vetted and our centre supervisor visits the building three times a week, at different times, to check that there are no problems. There are automtic outside floodlights and the property is fenced and gated.,.
CRB checks are mandatory for supervisors of minors Hirers must present and display copies of relevant licences to authorise protection of minors prior to admission.,.
